One Page Pitch

    The environment was designed with the theme of liminal space, and then the game mechanics were determined based on the infinite loop. Using Exit 8 as part of its inspiration, the game utilizes randomly occurring anomalies as the core gameplay. On top of that, to make the gameplay more interesting, the apartment is set as an anomaly under SCP Foundation's observation where the player is a field agent and memories are periodically erased. The narrative is presented as the protagonist's diary on a message board in the hallway. The player needs to look around carefully to find the way out or be ready to deal with some of the monsters in the SCP Foundation intake.

Development Process

    In the early prototype phase, my team mainly experimented with the feasibility of portals, streaming level system and the overall structure of the scene. I built the structure of the hallway and the stairwell, also made few art assets.

    From the very first version of the scene building to the final scene, I was responsible for modeling some of the items and all of the environmental art work, including creating textures and lighting, designing the UI as well as the narrative, and inplementing sounds.

    For the structure, I tried two different floor structures considering we need a default floor and an abnormal floor to load different streaming levels. After testing and comparing, we followed the second option of separating the floors and staircases to develop.

   At the end of the beta phase, we tested the game and I created surveys and analyzed all the feedback after the test. A total of 32 people participated in the test and the results showed that most of the players favored the art style, game concept and atmosphere of the game, a small number of players might have the difficulty of not knowing how to play the game at the beginning since we minimalized the text in the game, and overall it met the expectations except for some bugs. So in the last stage of the game development we have been polishing and fixing the bugs.
